How it works

  1. Upload & choose your service

Upload your files, select your languages and service, and add any preferred name spellings.

  2. Review your quote

We assess each unique document, exclude verified repeated copies, and apply a separate minimum per document. You review the price before paying.

  3. Pay & track your order

After payment, confirm names if requested and follow translation and review. We’ll email a secure link when your completed files are ready.

No payment is due until you review your quote. Complex or unclear documents may need Metro review before a price is ready.

Order online from any of the 50 U.S. states, without visiting a Michigan office. Upload your documents, review your quote, and track your order through the same secure online process. The receiving agency’s requirements still apply wherever you submit your documents.

Certification, notarization and apostille

Choose Certified translation for a complete translation with a signed certification of completeness, accuracy, and translator competence. Standard translation and translation with DTP layout preservation remain separate service choices. Notarization and apostille services are not included in this checkout; if your receiving authority requests either, contact Metro before ordering to clarify what is needed.

Certified translation for USCIS, Court, DMV, legal & SOS

A certified translation includes a complete translation and a signed statement certifying its completeness and accuracy and the translator’s competence in the relevant languages. Choose this service when your receiving authority requires a translation certification.

USCIS requires a full English translation with the translator’s certification. Courts, DMV offices, and Secretary of State (SOS) offices have their own submission requirements.

USCIS, court, DMV & SOS requirements

USCIS and immigration filings

Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), foreign-language documents submitted to USCIS must include a full English translation. The translator must certify that it is complete and accurate and that they are competent to translate into English. This is the translation requirement—not a guarantee that an immigration application will be approved. Follow your form’s current instructions and document requirements.

Courts and other legal proceedings

Check the receiving court’s rules or your attorney’s instructions before ordering. A court may require particular translator qualifications, a declaration or affidavit, or a specific format. A certified written translation does not replace a qualified courtroom interpreter.

DMV and Secretary of State offices

Requirements vary by state, office, and transaction. Confirm which documents, translators, certifications, and formats your office accepts. For Michigan license and ID applications, foreign documents must be translated or have English subheadings; the original document must also meet the office’s eligibility requirements. Translating a document does not make an otherwise ineligible document acceptable.

Certification, notarization, and apostilles are different

Translation certification concerns the translation’s completeness and accuracy. Notarization is a separate notarial act. An apostille or authentication is a separate government process for eligible documents used abroad—not a translation certification. Notarization and apostille services are not included in this checkout. If your receiving authority requests either, contact Metro before ordering to clarify the requirements.

Frequently asked questions

Can I order a certified translation from outside Michigan?
Yes. Metro Language Services accepts online document translation orders across all 50 U.S. states. You can upload your documents and receive released files through the secure portal without visiting an office.
What does USCIS require for a certified translation?
Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), foreign-language documents submitted to USCIS require a full English translation certified by the translator as complete and accurate, together with certification of their competence to translate into English. Follow your form’s instructions; translation certification does not guarantee application approval.
How is my translation price calculated?
We assess each unique document, exclude verified repeated copies, and apply a separate minimum to each unique document—not each page or uploaded PDF. You review the quote before paying. Complex or unclear documents may need Metro review before a price is ready.
Can I request a language that is not shown in the form?
Metro works with 300 languages and dialects. The order form lists the language pairs currently available for online ordering. Call (313) 782-3366 before ordering if your language or dialect is not listed.
Does certified translation include notarization or an apostille?
No. A translation certification, notarization, and an apostille are different. Notarization and apostille services are not included in this checkout. Contact Metro before ordering if your receiving court or agency requests additional formalities.
How will I receive my completed translation?
We email a secure completion link when your released files are ready. Documents are not sent as email attachments. Sign in or verify your guest access to view and download them. No turnaround time is promised before your order is assessed.
