What to prepare for USCIS translation
USCIS requires a full English translation of foreign-language documents, with the translator’s certification of completeness, accuracy, and competence to translate into English. A translation does not guarantee immigration approval.
- Check your current USCIS form instructions for which supporting records to submit.
- Provide every page, including stamps, notes, and reverse sides with text.
- Tell Metro the spellings used on your passport and application; confirm names when requested.
Chinese - Simplified document considerations
Chinese documents may contain different script forms, bilingual name fields, and official seals that require context from the full page.
- Confirm the romanized name used on your passport or application.
- Specify the script or document origin if the receiving institution requests it.
- Provide the complete document, including seals and bilingual fields.
Examples of documents
Translate only the records your recipient needs. Certification is a statement about the translation, not about the validity of the source document.
- Birth certificates
- Marriage and divorce records
- Police and civil records
Official receiving guidance
Read the cited federal translation rule alongside the instructions for your specific filing.
Choose certification and layout options
Certified Translation includes certification. Standard Translation is a separate service. Translation + DTP includes translation with layout work; use it when preserving document structure matters.
Notarization and apostilles are not included in the current checkout. Metro does not issue government apostilles. If a recipient asks for additional formalities, contact (313) 782-3366 before ordering.
How the online order works
Upload your source documents, select the available language direction and service, and provide the receiving instructions. Metro assesses the files and prepares a quote. Review the quote before you authorize payment.
If details need review, your files stay with Metro; an upload is not a promise of immediate completion. Released translations are accessed through a secure completion link, not a public document page or an email attachment.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I order from any U.S. state?
- Yes. Metro’s online ordering service is available nationwide. These service-area pages do not imply a local branch or a required in-person visit.
- What helps with Chinese - Simplified document preparation?
- Confirm the romanized name used on your passport or application. Specify the script or document origin if the receiving institution requests it. Provide the complete document, including seals and bilingual fields.
- Does certification guarantee USCIS acceptance?
- No application outcome is guaranteed. USCIS requires a full English translation and the translator’s certification of completeness, accuracy, and competence; also follow the instructions for your specific application.
- Are repeated documents charged more than once?
- Repeated copies of the same document are counted once. Each unique document has its own minimum; the minimum is not applied separately to every page. Your quote is assessed through the existing order workflow.
- Does checkout include notarization or an apostille?
- No. Those are separate formalities and are not included in the current translation checkout. Contact Metro about the receiving organization’s instructions before ordering.
